Luggage
We want to make your journey as smooth and comfortable as possible – and that starts with knowing exactly what you can bring with you.
You’re welcome to bring on board:
- 1 cabin bag – must fit in the overhead locker
- 1 small personal item – such as a handbag or laptop bag, to fit under the seat in front
Combined weight must not exceed 10 kg
Cabin bag size limit
55 x 40 x 23 cm (including wheels and handles – must fit comfortably into the baggage sizer)
Please note:
- If your cabin bag doesn’t fit in our baggage sizer but you have spare hold baggage allowance, we’ll place it in the aircraft hold at no extra charge.
- If the bag is overweight and doesn’t fit, it will be checked into the hold for an additional fee.
Our checked luggage allowance depends on your ticket type:
- SkyBusiness – 23 kg included
- Standard – 15 kg included
- FlyFlex – 23 kg included
Important
- No single bag can weigh more than 23 kg.
- If you are over your luggage allowance you will need to purchase excess luggage at check-in.
- Excess baggage is carried subject to space and may need to travel on a later flight
Due to space on board, pushchairs can’t be carried in the cabin. However, infants may bring two of the following items free of charge:
- A collapsible pushchair
- A collapsible travel cot
- A car seat
These can be taken to the departure gate, where they’ll be loaded into the hold and returned to you at the baggage carousel when you land.
Oversized items
Please contact our Passenger Relations Team in advance to check if space is available.
Sports equipment
- Each passenger can bring one piece of sports equipment for a charge of £20
- Any additional items count as excess baggage unless pre-purchased
- Items above your allowance are carried subject to space availability and may travel separately
- Bulky equipment (e.g. surfboards, windsurfers) may not be accepted if the flight is full
- You can purchase extra baggage when booking or before you fly (manage my booking):
- You can take an extra 15 kg bag at £15 one-way
- You can take an extra 23 kg bag at £20 one-way
- You can upgrade your 15 kgs baggage allowance to 23 kgs for £10 one-way
Reporting baggage damage
Any damage to your baggage must be reported to a Skybus staff member before leaving the baggage reclaim area. The staff member will complete a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) and provide you with a copy. Please note, this report does not constitute a claim.
To make a claim for compensation, you must contact us within 7 days of your flight. When submitting your claim, include the following documents:
- A photograph or scanned copy of your PIR
- Your bar-coded baggage sticker
- Proof of purchase, including age and model of the bag
- A valuation for repair or a comparable replacement item
- Any photos you have taken of the damage
Exemptions
- Skybus will not consider claims for damage to hold baggage in the following cases:
- Cosmetic damage, such as scuffs, dents, marks, or normal wear and tear, that does not affect the bag’s usability
- Damage to handles or wheels
- Missing zip locks or straps
- Damage to protruding parts of the suitcase or bag (these parts are easily damaged by airport conveyor belts)
Flights to and from the Isles of Scilly
You’re welcome to bring on board 1 bag, it must not exceed:
- 30 x 15 x 15 cm
- 3 kg
You can also bring an overcoat, small camera, binoculars and something to read.
Our checked luggage allowance is 2 pieces per person, it must not exceed:
- 15 kg (combined)
- 75 x 50 x 30 cm
Passengers travelling together may share their luggage allowance. Each passenger (excluding infants) is entitled to 15 kg, so two passengers have a combined limit of 30 kg. When sharing luggage, please ensure that no single bag exceeds 20 kg.
Excess baggage will be charged at £6.00 per kilo departing from all airports and carried on a space available basis only.
Please contact our Passenger Relations Team in advance to check if space is available, as space is limited and your luggage may travel separately.
If your luggage travels unaccompanied VAT will be added to the excess luggage charge.
Children’s tickets (2 – 11 years) have the same hold luggage allowance as adults.
Infant tickets (0 – 1 years) do not come with a hold luggage allowance, but we are happy to carry a pushchair or travel cot for them, free of charge.
