Accessibility services
If you would like a little extra help, we’ll do everything we can. Please call us in advance to discuss your assistance requests before you travel, so we’re ready when you arrive.
Whether you need assistance getting through the airport, boarding the aircraft, or settling in onboard, our team is here to help.
To make sure everything runs smoothly:
- Please let us know your assistance needs in advance
- We work closely with airport service providers to ensure the right support is in place
- Assistance should be requested at least 48 hours before travel
- Passengers using pre-booked assistance should arrive at check-in no later than 2 hours before departure
Important: We’re only able to provide assistance if it has been arranged in advance. Without prior notice, we may not be able to offer support on the day.
Your assistance dog – including guide dogs and medical alert dogs – is very welcome on board Skybus flights.
To make your journey as smooth as possible:
- Please contact our Passenger Relations Team before your flight
- We’ll guide you through the process and ensure all arrangements are in place
- Our team will coordinate with airport staff to provide the support you need
We support passengers with additional needs on our services and facilities where reasonable and practical. Please complete our mobility aid request form to request assistance.
A member of staff will be in touch once your request has been confirmed and accepted.
Important: You are responsible for informing the cabin crew, when boarding a Skybus flight, of any consumable products that could trigger an allergic reaction.
Please be aware that products containing nuts or other allergens may be present on board. If you suffer from a severe allergic reaction, it is essential that you inform the cabin crew upon boarding. They will withdraw any such items from sale and request that other passengers refrain from opening or consuming similar items they may have brought with them.
Most electric wheelchairs, buggies and scooters can be carried on-board, but need to be pre-arranged. For safety reasons, we’ll need to know:
- The make, model, size and unladen weight
- The battery make and type – it must be sealed and dry cell or gel cell
- That the battery can be deactivated or disconnected
We’ll also ask you to bring a copy of the operating manual to the airport.
Travel from week 28 up to and including week 36
We ask that you provide a doctor’s certificate confirming that you are fit to travel, the stage of pregnancy, and your due date.
From 37 weeks up to and including your estimated delivery date
You’ll need a doctor’s note, issued within the previous 7 days of the travel date confirming fitness to travel.
Travel beyond your estimated delivery date
Beyond your delivery date you will only be allowed on flights between Land’s End and St Mary’s. You must be accompanied by an adult escort (partner, friend, family member, medical professional) and have a letter issued by the doctor or midwife within the previous 24 hours confirming fitness to travel, a copy of which will be required at check-in.
Essential medication should be carried in your hand luggage.
If you need to bring liquid medication over 100 ml, keep it in its original container and carry a doctor’s letter or prescription as proof. Airport security may need to inspect or open the packaging during screening.
Flights to and from the Isles of Scilly
The design of the aircraft we use means passengers will need to be able to use steps for boarding.
We’re afraid there is no wheelchair access and it is not possible to lift passengers onto the aircraft.
Once on-board, there is limited space to move around, the seats cannot be adjusted, and leg room is fixed. If you need help with personal care, or are unable to carry out safety requirements unaided, such as using a seatbelt or reaching an emergency exit, please travel with a companion to provide assistance.
